Referring to the publication of news about his resignation from this position and his meeting with the head of the judiciary, the Vice President said: "I hope that by removing me, the excuse of obstructing the will of the people and the government will be removed."
According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr News Agency, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Vice President for Strategy, tweeted on the X Network: Greetings to my honorable compatriots. I thank God Almighty for giving this small servant the opportunity to offer what I could in the past 9 months to fulfill the will of the nation and serve the people.
He added: Although I have faced the most ridiculous insults, slanders, and threats against myself and my family in the past 6 months, and even within the government, I have spent the most bitter 40-year period of service, I have persevered in the hope of serving. I have not been and am not one to run away from hardships and difficulties in the path of serving this border and homeland, and in the past forty or so years, I have endured so many insults and slanders for the small role I have played in advancing national interests, from ending the imposed war to finalizing the nuclear file, and I have held my breath in order not to harm the interests of the country against the flood of lies and distortions.
Zarif continued: Yesterday, I went to meet him at the invitation of the esteemed head of the judiciary. Referring to the country's conditions, he recommended that I return to university to prevent further pressure on the government. I immediately accepted.
He added that I have always wanted to be a friend, not a burden. With great gratitude to him for lifting the burden of responsibility before God and the people from my shoulders, I hope that by leaving me, the excuses for throwing stones at the will of the people and the success of the government will be removed. I am still proud of supporting the esteemed Dr. Pezzekian and wish him and other true servants of the people the best. I apologize to the merciful God and you, the good, patient, and grateful people of Iran, for all my shortcomings.
