According to Ashura News, quoted by ISNA, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, provided explanations about the process of these talks on Saturday after the end of the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Rome.

Araqchi said in an interview with the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation: "Today we had a meeting for about four hours and it was a good meeting and the talks are moving forward. This time we managed to reach a better understanding on a series of principles and goals, and finally it was decided that the talks would continue and enter the next stage, in such a way that expert meetings would begin."

The Iranian Foreign Minister clarified: "Technical talks at the expert level will begin in Oman on Wednesday of this week. It is natural that the experts will have more time to go into details and design a framework for agreement, and then we will meet next Saturday in Oman to review the results of the experts' work to see how close we are to the principles of an agreement."

In response to the question, "Do you assess the negotiations as constructive?", he said: "As I said, the negotiations were held in a constructive atmosphere and we can say that they are moving forward and we are moving forward."

In response to a question about media speculations regarding the negotiations, the Iranian Foreign Minister said: "Speculation, interpretation and analysis are always present in any negotiation, and people with specific goals and motives may make speculations, which I do not approve of."

Stating that "what is the criterion is what happens behind the negotiating table," he said: "People and the media should not pay attention to speculations and let us continue this path within the framework of a reasonable movement to see when it will reach a conclusion."
