Taliban officials say three Afghan soldiers were killed and wounded in a border clash with Pakistani security forces.
One Taliban soldier was killed and two others wounded in a border clash between Taliban forces and Pakistani troops, officials said on Monday.
The armed clashes between the two countries' forces broke out on the first working day after the beginning of Ramadan, Reuters reported. The 10-day closure of the Torkham border crossing has disrupted thousands of trucks carrying essential food items heading to Afghanistan.
The Taliban's Interior Ministry confirmed the number of casualties. According to Pakistani security officials, who did not want to be named, a number of Pakistani security forces were also wounded in the recent border clashes.
The two neighboring countries have murky relations; Islamabad has claimed that several attacks by extremist militants in Pakistan were planned from Afghanistan, while the Taliban have denied the claim.
Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Matin Qane said the recent clashes had been resolved but did not comment on the reopening of the Torkham border crossing. The crossing, located between Afghanistan's Jalalabad and Pakistan's Peshawar, has been closed since February 21.
