According to Ashura News, citing Mehr News Agency, US President Donald Trump has backed down from his controversial plan to expel Palestinians from the Gaza Strip in a clear reversal. Trump stated during a joint press conference with the Irish Prime Minister at the White House: “Nobody is forcing the residents of Gaza to leave their homes.”

During the press conference, a reporter asked about the plan to expel Palestinians from Gaza, and Trump replied that “no Palestinians will be expelled from Gaza.” He also emphasized that Washington is working closely with Israel to find a solution to the situation in Gaza.

These statements were made while Trump’s plan had previously faced a wave of widespread Arab and international protests, while the Israeli occupation regime had warmly welcomed it.

Al Jazeera's American correspondent Wajd Waqfi said in an analysis of Trump's remarks: "It is difficult to predict Trump's moves and policies. Perhaps these new statements were due to Trump's dissatisfaction with the way the question was raised. The question was initially posed to the Irish Prime Minister as to whether he agreed with Trump's idea of expelling Palestinians from Gaza."

Waqfi added that it was clear that the question upset Trump, and that is why he reacted by declaring that "no one wants to expel Palestinians."

It is worth noting that Trump's plan, which included the forced transfer of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan, was met with strong opposition from these two countries and other Arab countries, regional and international organizations. In contrast, a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza without expelling Palestinians was approved at the Arab summit held in Cairo. This plan included five years of time and a cost of $53 billion, but the Israeli occupation regime and the United States rejected the plan and continued to support Trump's idea.
