According to Ashura News, Hojjatoleslam Hassanali Akhlaqi Amiri emphasized the need for legal governance of cyberspace and said: The issue of governance in cyberspace is one of the issues that the Leader of the Revolution has repeatedly emphasized its importance.

He continued: This issue is not unique to our country, and all countries that care about the psychological security of their citizens pay attention to governance in cyberspace. Various countries in the West have set specific rules for this area, and our country should not be an exception to this rule.

A member of the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted: At the beginning of the 12th Assembly, we were looking for the government to submit a bill on organizing cyberspace. However, no bill was submitted by the government, and we ourselves formed a working group in the Cultural Commission of the Assembly to develop rules for organizing cyberspace.

Akhlaqi Amiri continued: At the same time, the Supreme Council for Cyberspace approved a resolution in which the resolution defined 10 general policies and about 32 implementation steps to remove the filter, and it was decided that these policies would be implemented within a few months.

The representative of the people of Mashhad and Kalat in the Islamic Consultative Assembly reminded: After that resolution and with the opinion of the members of the Supreme Council for Cyberspace, the WhatsApp and Google Play platforms were removed from the filter, and negotiations should be held about the next steps to remove the filter. For example, regarding some platforms that may not be able to set up their offices in our country for any reason, talks are underway with third-party offices in other countries to reach an agreement in this regard.

He emphasized: The Supreme Council for Cyberspace has developed good policies that also include strengthening domestic platforms. In any case, the current situation of filtering and the sale of filter breakers shows that neither the government nor the people are satisfied with this situation.

A member of the Cultural Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: “The 12th Assembly has repeatedly warned that the situation of filter breakers must be clarified and it must be determined who is selling them and generating income. The Minister of Communications and Information Technology has also repeatedly emphasized the organization of cyberspace in the meetings of this commission and the Assembly, and we hope that this promise will be fulfilled.”

Akhlaqi Amiri emphasized: “In general, desirable organization in this area means establishing governance rules in cyberspace that we must adhere to, and any foreign group or platform that wants to cooperate with us must adhere to the rules of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
