According to Ashura News, quoted by Mehr reporter, our country's Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, referring to the holding of the first round of indirect talks with the American negotiating team, said: We had indirect talks for about two and a half hours thanks to the efforts and efforts of the Omani Foreign Minister. The two delegations were going back and forth and this going back and forth was done about 4 times.

He said: As the first meeting, it was a constructive meeting and it was held in a calm and respectful environment. The second round will be held next Saturday.

The Foreign Minister stated: No inappropriate language was used and the parties showed their commitment to advancing these talks until an agreement is reached that is desirable for both parties and is done from an equal position.

He added: Neither we nor the other side want fruitless negotiations and so-called talks for the sake of talks and erosive negotiations. This will definitely not be an easy task because it requires the necessary will from both sides. The other side made a lot of effort to show its will to reach a fair agreement.

In response to the question of whether the talks next Saturday will be at the same level, the Foreign Minister said: Yes, they will be held at the same level, but the venue may be somewhere else, but it will be hosted by Oman.

Regarding the timetable for the talks, he continued: Today, the atmosphere of the meeting was such that it ensured continuity. In the next meeting, we will try to enter the agenda of the talks, which will also have a timetable. What is important is the content and on what basis to negotiate. In this meeting today, we came very close to the basis for negotiations. If we can determine the basis in the future, we can negotiate on that basis.

Regarding his conversation with Whittaker when he left the place of the talks in the presence of the Foreign Minister of Oman, Araqchi stated: It was normal. When the two delegations left, they encountered each other and we talked for a few minutes. This is accepted. We always observed diplomatic courtesy when dealing with American diplomats, and this time, too, there was just an initial conversation and greetings, and then we left the place, and it was nothing extraordinary.
