Friday is a good opportunity to enjoy free time and engage in spiritual matters.
According to Ashura News, quoted by Khabgazari Mehr, Friday is a good opportunity to take advantage of free time and engage in spiritual matters. It is stated in the narrations that on this day, good deeds are rewarded twice and bad deeds are recorded twice. Therefore, performing deeds such as reciting the Holy Quran, maintaining ties of kinship, and worship are highly recommended.
This day has a special place among Muslims and its importance has been emphasized many times, like the holy month of Ramadan, which is the month of worship and reciting the Quran. Friday is a valuable day for gaining virtue and getting closer to God, and special deeds such as Friday bathing, supplication for mourning, supplication for completion, supplication for covenant, and supplication for the attributes are recommended on it. Also, performing Friday prayers is considered one of the most important acts of worship on this day.
Many hadiths have been narrated about the virtue of Friday; including, "If someone dies on Friday, he will be safe from the torment of the grave." The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said: "The best of days is Friday." Imam Sadiq (AS) also says: “Whoever dies between Thursday noon and Friday noon, God will protect him from the pressure of the grave.” Visiting the graves on Thursday afternoon and Friday is also highly recommended.
Among the actions emphasized on this day is giving charity, which has many rewards. Helping orphans and the needy was among the practices of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) on Friday. Also, feeding the needy and maintaining kinship ties have a special place on this day. Imam Baqir (AS) says: “Kindness of kinship makes morals good, hands generous, purifies the soul, increases sustenance, and delays death.” Imam Sadiq (AS) also said: “Your death has come many times, but God delayed it because of your kinship ties and kindness to your relatives.”
Friday is also a day attributed to the Imam of the Time (AS). Many of those waiting for this day are eagerly awaiting the reappearance of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and, by praying, reciting the Quran and reforming their behavior, they try to be his righteous companions and pave the way for the emergence of the just.
In a narration from the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), it is stated: “Soon a people will come after you, the reward of one of them is equal to the reward of fifty of you.”
The companions of the Prophet said: O Messenger of God! We were with you at Badr, Uhud and Hunayn, and the Quran was revealed among us. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “If you were to bear what they are carrying, you would not be able to bear their patience and perseverance.”
