According to Ashura News, citing Mehr News Agency, CNN correspondent Kylie Atwood, referring to the first round of Iran-US talks held yesterday in Oman, provided interesting details about the venue for these indirect talks, as well as the possibility of holding the second round of talks in a country other than Oman.

According to CNN, citing an informed source, the talks between Steve Whittaker, the US special representative, and Abbas Araqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, were held at the home of Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaid, known as "Beit Al-Hail."

This mansion is located less than 10 minutes from Muscat Airport and is considered an attractive place for meetings of high-ranking officials of Western and Middle Eastern countries.

There are reception rooms on both sides of the mansion's magnificent entrance corridor. According to CNN, the reception rooms on the right are Western-style, and Whittaker and his team were seated during the "indirect" talks. On the left is a reception room with oriental style and architecture, where Araqchi and the Iranian delegation were seated.

The report continues: A total of 13 people participated in the negotiations; five Americans, five Iranians and three from Oman; the Omani host transmitted the messages of the parties in English to both sides of the corridor.

According to the source, after the negotiations ended, the two delegations spoke briefly for a few minutes in the marble corridor as they left.

The source emphasized that, according to an official statement from White House sources present at the negotiations, there is a belief that the Trump administration wants rapid progress (of the negotiations) and that Whittaker intends to give the green light for an agreement by making a political decision without going into highly technical details that may slow down the negotiations.

Also, according to the CNN source, the US-Iran negotiations are scheduled to continue next week and will probably be in a European country.

After the talks, Araqchi said, referring to the first round of indirect talks with the American negotiating team, “We had about two and a half hours of indirect talks facilitated by the Omani Foreign Minister. There were back and forths between the two delegations, and this back and forth took place about four times. The first meeting was a constructive meeting and was held in a calm and respectful environment. The second round will be held next Saturday. No inappropriate language was used, and the parties showed their commitment to advancing these talks until an agreement is reached that is desirable for both parties and is made from an equal position.”

Earlier, NBC News correspondent Vaughn Hilliard, quoting Steve Whittaker, wrote in a message on his social media account X regarding the indirect consultations between representatives of Tehran and Washington in Oman that “we had a very positive and constructive conversation.” The reporter added, quoting Trump’s special representative, that the talks with Iran will continue on April 19. The White House also described the talks with Iran as "very positive and constructive."
