American news sources reported an unprecedented and direct dialogue between the Trump administration and the Hamas resistance in Doha, Qatar.
According to Ashura News, citing Mehr News Agency, the American news agency Axios announced that the Trump administration has established direct talks with Hamas to release American prisoners in Gaza and to reach a broader agreement to end the war.
According to the news agency, the talks that Adam Boehler, the US special envoy for prisoner issues, held with Hamas were unprecedented and have not yet reached an agreement.
According to Axios sources, the meeting between Hamas and Boehler took place in Doha in recent weeks.
The US negotiations with Hamas are unprecedented. The US has placed Hamas among the groups it claims to be a terrorist organization since 1997 and has never negotiated directly with it.
Also, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt confirmed the news of direct talks between Adam Boehler, the US special envoy for Israeli prisoner issues, and Hamas officials in Doha, saying: Washington has consulted with Israel about holding direct talks with Hamas.
On the other hand, the Wall Street Journal reported that the initial contact between the American negotiator and Hamas took place in Doha last February.
According to the report, Adam Boehler asked Hamas to release American prisoners. The media added that Hamas responded to the request on February 15 and released an Israeli-American prisoner named Sagi Dekel to China.
The New York Times also reported an hour ago, citing an Israeli official and a diplomatic official, that US officials had held talks with Hamas in Qatar. The talks were held on the issue of Israeli and American prisoners.
According to the Israel Radio and Television Organization, the Americans have informed Hamas that they will pressure Israel for the second phase of the agreement.
The media outlet also reported that the United States has asked Hamas to release American prisoners as a gesture of goodwill.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced that it has announced its position on direct US talks with Hamas.
According to Israel's Channel 14, the Trump administration's talks with Hamas have not changed the US position on the war.
