US President Donald Trump claimed in an interview with Fox Business that he had sent a letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran and requested negotiations.
The Axios website wrote in this regard: Trump says he sent a letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran in which he proposed a nuclear deal.
The American media added: US President Donald Trump said that he had sent a letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Wednesday, stressing that he wanted to reach an agreement on the country's nuclear program.
Axios continued: Trump’s letter to the Supreme Leader, which the US president revealed in an interview with Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo, is the first significant interaction between the US and Iran since the new administration took office.
In the interview, Trump reiterated his claim that he wants to negotiate a new nuclear deal with Iran, saying: “Something has to be done because Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
The Supreme Leader recently announced that he does not support direct negotiations with the Trump administration because he does not trust the US. Iranian President Masoud Pezzekian also said that he supports dialogue with the US, but will follow the advice of the Supreme Leader.
